Lenten Message 8

Dear friends in Christ,

The word of the week is  LOVE.  The greatest commandment.....

This Sunday, April 2 is our last Sunday before Palm Sunday and Holy Week,  Our gospel lesson this week comes from Luke 18:31- 19:10.  Jesus heals a blind man and meets Zaccheaus.  Why are these parables important for our journey to Easter?

When you wake on Easter morning, how will you be different?  The Council's challenge to us all is to think about that theme and use it as a call to action for growth in our spiritual lives this Lenten Season.  Read the words of the prayer used during Great Lent in the Eastern Orthodox Church:

"O Lord and Master of my life, grant not unto me a spirit of idleness, of discouragement, of lust of power, and vain speaking.  But bestow upon me, Thy servant, the spirit of chastity, of meekness, of patience, and of love.  Yea, O Lord and King, grant that I may perceive my transgressions, and judge not my brother, for blessed art Thou unto the ages.  Amen."

Prayerfully,

GDLC Council
