About Us
Our History

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church was founded in 1966 in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and part of the Alaska Synod of the ELCA.

Our sanctuary, dedicated in 1980, is a lovely, light-filled place of worship, a blend of traditional and modern. The stained-glass window, depicting the Good Shepherd, provides a beautiful backdrop to the altar. It was crafted in 1889, by a British artist for Trinity Episcopal Church in Howard, South Dakota, and was a gift to Gloria Dei, together with the hand-carved chancel furnishings, two smaller stained-glass windows, and the bell, which has called the faithful to worship for more than a century.
